Produce
One thing we hear over and over again from our guests is how they love the huge selection in our produce department. And it’s true – we stock hundreds of varieties of fresh fruits and vegetables throughout the year. We’re happy to offer you a huge selection of both conventional and organic produce, taste-tested for quality by our associates, and delivered fresh to our stores daily. Just who makes the freshness, quality and unsurpassed selection of Nugget’s produce possible? Our partner, Nor-Cal Produce, another local, family-owned company (just like Nugget). We’ve been working with Nor-Cal for more than two decades on a relentless search for the best produce grown locally and across the globe.
Meat & Seafood
Don’t know a chop from a roast? Our meat department associates will not only help you select the perfect cut, but they’re also happy to advise you on proper cooking times and temperatures. We carry a wide selection of meats and poultry: From Harris Ranch, we offer Natural USDA Choice and Premium Natural Black Angus beef, and from PrairieFresh, 100 percent natural pork products. Also popular are our handcrafted seasonal entrees, and Nugget’s own handcrafted sausages. And we are proud to announce our new Fresh to Market Free-Range Chicken, a higher quality chicken at a lower price than you will find at other supermarkets. Fresh to Market Free-Range Chicken is all-natural, given no hormones or antibiotics, and is locally and humanely raised.
Nugget is also proud to offer a restaurant-quality seafood selection. Fresh-caught daily, items in our seafood department are labeled using the FishWise program, which can help you select seafood based on sustainability.
We love that FishWise is color-coded, making it easy to understand: A green label means that the fish was caught using a sustainable method and the fish populations are healthy, a yellow label means that there are some concerns about the fish or the catch method, and a red label means that the fish populations are either over-fished or at capacity, and the fishing method is not sustainable. Staple Grocery Items
We know that one of the biggest misconceptions about Nugget Markets is that it’s a high-priced store. But don’t be fooled by our beautiful décor and wide selection of specialty products: when it comes to the staple grocery items that you use every day, our prices really are lower! We know they are lower because we price check weekly, comparing our prices to Raley’s, Safeway’s and Bel-Air’s to make sure we’re bringing you the best deals around. That’s why we say that at Nugget, the impossible really does happen: Huge selection and the highest quality at the very lowest prices of any conventional grocery store in our area!
Deli/Asian Kitchen
Did you know that a professional chef works at each of our Nugget locations? That’s one reason we like to think of each of our deli and Asian kitchen departments as a restaurant-within-a-store. Using only the highest quality ingredients, and producing dishes in small batches, our in-store chefs ensure that our food actually tastes good. When you combine that with build-your-own sandwiches and salads (great for quick-and-delicious lunches), we think your biggest problem is going to be deciding what to order.
Bakery
Wait … what’s that smell in the air? Could it be … fresh-baked cookies? You’d better believe it: at Nugget, we bake our cookies, breads and other bakery treats in-house daily. Time your visit right and you might even catch them while they’re still warm from the oven. We’re very proud of our artisan bread program, too. In addition to being baked in our stores each day, our breads are made from scratch using organic grains. We’re always happy to take your order for breads, rolls or desserts for your special event — just stop by and let us know how we can help. And finally, we’re proud to announce that our bakery is now 100 percent trans-fat-free.
Adult Beverage
Show of hands: Who feels like they need a degree in viticulture to avoid embarrassment in the wine aisle? Not at Nugget. Although we offer a huge range of wines and other adult beverages from all over the world (not to mention the best beer selection of any conventional supermarket), navigating this department is easy, thanks to our on-site wine stewards. They’re always more than happy to help you make your selection, and to point out ways to save money on your adult beverage purchase.
